AR Bone Health LLC is owned and operated by Andrea Whisenhunt R.T.(R)(BD)(ARRT)(CBDT), who is also the founder of the company. Andrea has 18 years’ experience within the radiology field and has worked in, and with, a variety of clinics and hospitals. She is a licensed Radiologic Technologist and is certified in radiography and bone densitometry. She is member of the American Society of Radiologic Technologists, the International Society for Clinical Densitometry (ISCD), the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and the American Heart Association.
Throughout the years, Andrea began to notice an increasing need for addressing bone health with her patients. This led her to become certified in bone densitometry and an expert with DXA scans. DXA, which stands for Dual Energy X-Ray Absorptiometry, is the most widely used technique for measuring bone mineral density and diagnosing the presence of osteoporosis. DXA scanning is a simple, painless test that is performed while lying down on the table of the unit. Determinations are made in the lumber spine, hip and occasionally the forearm. The length of the exam is approximately 10-15 minutes. The DXA scan result is reported as a T-Score, which compares a patient’s bone mineral density to that of a young healthy person.
In addition to addressing bone health, our company will also offer advance total body composition scans and CPR training/certification. The advance body composition scans will measure the regional and whole body lean and fat tissue mass. This scan can aid clients with understanding how diet, lifestyle and exercise programs impact overall health. It can also be useful in treating diseases/conditions such as chronic renal failure, anorexia nervosa, obesity, AIDS/HIV, and cystic fibrosis. Andrea is also a certified CPR and first aid instructor with 10 years’ experience. She has completed CPR training for a wide variety of professionals with various backgrounds.
